I've been getting a lot of questions about a PS4 Pro case mod where you drill a hole in the case for better airflow to keep the temperature down. I hadn't ever tried this mod before this video so I decided to do an experiment to see if the console runs cooler with a hole above the fan. I played a game for a while, then recorded the temperature and noise level in decibels. Then I drilled a hole in the case right where the fan is, then played the game for a little longer. The PS4 cooling system is pretty simple...in this video I show you exactly how it works. There are several important parts of the PS4 cooling system. The main component everyone knows about is the fan but the fan is only one small part in the cooling system. There is also a heat sink, an air chamber and cooling fins to cool the air. Ok , like a lot of you I have been continuously cleaning out dust from my playstation 4 over the last few years. Well recently I got the "shut down to cool down" warning. So i popped it open and started cleaning. Thats when I decided to do something about the issues. So more air flow and less dust is on the cards. I grabbed a spare pc fan, pc fan filter, 12v power pack, some basic tools and I grabbed the camera because "why not film this madness about to unfold". I just made it up on the go with a goal of making it cooler. Well when all was done and gaming for a large amount of time had been done I can say a great improvement was made. A very noticeable difference in the internal fan speed and noise. During basic functions the internal fan "once running" will barely go above idol speed. During game play a mid fan speed was reached but nothing crazy or LOUD . A vast improvement on the system hands down. Some people think that external cooling fans for the PS4 Pro, Slim and Xbox consoles are essential to helping them run cooler. I decided to test it and see if it's true. I bought an external cooling fan for the PS4 Pro. Then I installed it and played the console for over an hour and noted the temperatures. I then removed the fan and played the console for another hour and found that the temperature was a tiny bit cooler without the fans installed. This test clearly shows that external cooling fans for the PS4 Pro do nothing to keep the console cooler. Keep in mind this is with a console that is clean. PlayStation 4 Pro - Dual Fan Cooling & Noise Reduction Modification The top of the case on these models typically runs about 52 degrees in full use on this model based on other videos/reviews I’ve seen and mine is around 31 degrees even on the most intensive games running 4K for multiple hrs straight. Even the nicest water cooled PS4 Pro I’ve seen runs at 31 degrees on the start menu. These are 2000RPM fans (overkill), but they are connected to the PS4’s 3-pin connector for the stock fan. I don’t think they are reaching 2000RPM as they are pretty quiet and the speed never seems to vary at all. I assume the baseline idle speed on these fans keeps the system cool enough that the PS4 never has any reason to speed them up. Unlike my stock PS4 fan which varied quite a lot and got very loud. My PS4 case would also get so hot on the top of the case that I could barely touch it before. *UPDATE: I’ve recently bought a tachometer and the fans are both running at 1900 RPMs. They never seem to change speed at any point. This is a CUH-7215 from the RDR2 bundle, which was suppose to be the quietest model already. I took this idea from UntaimedGorillaX who did a similar mod. Ideas para mejorar el rendimiento de tu PS4 Tiras led 12v conectados a la alimentación del ventilador interno del PS4 cable marrón y el negativo se saca de la placa metálica, en el caso de tener de 5v conectar a la alimentación USB. Para mejorar la ventilación, tener un ventilador, yo en mi caso perfore el PS4 en la parte de abajo para que el aire entre. Se necesita, cautín, estaño ojalá delgado, pasta de soldar, cables finos, sinta aisladora y no tener miedo. Es muy importante aislar siempre todo el circuito, todo lo que es metal es el circuito tierra o negativo del PS4, si un positivo toca está placa, el PS4 se apagara, al realizar la instalación por favor siempre desconectandolo de la corriente, si no sabe consulte.

Bought PS4 slim online for £100. did cooling mod,SSD upgrade and repaired bluray drive. Surprised that manufacturers did not put thermal pads in place!!!
The PS4 Pro fan can get very loud. I've heard some people say that the Delta fan is better than the Nidec and will make the console run quieter. I decided to purchase both fans so I could test it for myself. In this video I play Horizon Zero Dawn for about 2 hours then test the temperature and fan noise. Then I replace the fan with the Delta model, play for another hour and a half or so and retest the noise and temperature. The PS4 Pro definitely gets loud when playing 4k HDR enhanced games. It seems that playing those intense games makes the console create a lot of heat and turns the fan on high to blow that heat out of the console. You might end up with a noisy PlayStation because the system will turn up the fans RPM to compensate for the poor airflow. Your system might even shut down suddenly in order to protect its components. By doing this, you will have to break the warranty seal, voiding the Sony Warranty of your console. So think wisely before starting the disassembly. I am using a window cleaning solution and a microfiber towel to wash the dust off,..... and a soft painting brush to brush off any dust from electronic components as well as in tight spaces like the logo engravings, the buttons and so on. For the disassembly I used a Torx T-9 bit and a Phillips PH0 bit, but from what i researched on the internet it appears that some console models have T-8 Torx screws instead of T-9, so it’s better to have both just to be sure. You can also use an air spray, an inverted vacuum cleaner that can blow air, or a compressor to blow the dust off from the components.
