Seven people who were under FBI investigation in Greater Cincinnati had their Paycheck Protection loans forgiven by the U.S. Small Business Administration, the WCPO 9 I-Team has discovered.
CNBC's Kayla Tausche reports that the SBA approved 1.66M PPP loans worth about $342 billion. With The New York Times' Paul Krugman. Chris Myers applied for a forgivable loan from the federal government. He’s running his business as if the additional lifeline may not be on its way. “I’m just cobbling enough work together to try covering my studio rent and a little bit of incidentals,” said the Baltimore-based photographer. Hospitals and colleges are his usual clients, and he’s expanded into taking more freelance photojournalism work with local magazines. “Hopefully, I don’t beat up my bank account too much – 90% to 95% of business is gone right now, so I’m just keeping the lights on,” Myers said. Myers is among the millions of entrepreneurs who applied for a slice of the $349 billion Paycheck Protection Program or PPP. It’s been five days since he’s applied, and he’s still not sure whether he’ll receive funding. The first-come, first-served forgivable loan program dried up on Thursday, April 16 with many small-business owners still uncertain about where they stand. Some 1.6 million loans were extended as of Thursday, according to Treasury. Three out of 4 loans were for $150,000 and less. “People are waiting for money,” said Michael Maksymiw, partner at Marcum in West Hartford, Connecticut. “They’re trying to get this money and pay employees so they can buy groceries and function.” For access to live and exclusive video from CNBC subscribe to CNBC PRO: 🤍 » Subscribe to CNBC TV: 🤍 » Subscribe to CNBC: 🤍 » Subscribe to CNBC Classic: 🤍 Turn to CNBC TV for the latest stock market news and analysis. Feds: Woman spent PPP loans on sports car, gambling
Investigators say that $7.2 million that was supposed to be for coronavirus business relief instead funded a man's purchase of a Central Florida mansion, a Maserati and other luxury vehicles.
Watch the full interview now as a VladTV Youtube Member - 🤍 Part 9: 🤍 Part 7: 🤍 Part 1: 🤍 In this clip, Baby Blue talks about the allegations brought up against him by the feds, in regards to the COVID-19 loan scam that he took part in during 2020. He reveals that he earned nearly a quarter of a million dollars after setting up a website to distribute COVID masks. Later, Baby Blue takes a deeper dive into what led to his arrest. He claims that it all started with his intentions to buy a baby blue Lamborghini for himself for $250K, but that a football agent who worked with a record label talked him out of it, insisting that they would pay for it instead. Baby Blue gave the rep his LLC information and his legal name. The next day, he had over $400K in his back account ($100K went back to the agent who got him the money), not knowing that the money was obtained illegally through PPP loans. This transgression eventually led to the feds arresting Baby Blue for a loan scam. Nevertheless, he claims that the feds made him the poster child for arresting people for this type of fraud.

A former Memphis Police clerk who stands accused of forging a paystub to get a loan also obtained a Paycheck Protection Program loan as part of the federal government’s pandemic relief funding.
The CARES Act created the Paycheck Protection Program to help small businesses stay afloat. PPP loans were designed to help employers around the country to keep the lights on and pay workers. Watch this video for a full breakdown of how the money went from Congress to bank accounts across the country. For access to live and exclusive video from CNBC subscribe to CNBC PRO: 🤍 More than 51 million U.S. workers can thank the Paycheck Protection Program for helping provide a portion of their wages during the coronavirus shutdown. The $659 billion program, authorized under the CARES Act, let small businesses take out loans to stay afloat and keep workers on the payroll. Even better, some or all of the loan may be forgiven if the businesses meet certain requirements. The process to get a PPP loan was pretty straightforward: Business owners went to their bank and applied for a loan to keep the doors open. But behind the scenes, the lending process involved a few extra steps, according to Sahil Bloom, a financial educator and vice president at Altamont Capital Partners. Anyone who submitted false information on a PPP or EIDL loan application could potentially be charged with bank fraud as well as money laundering and/or identity theft depending on the facts of the case. The sentences in these cases are primarily based on the amount of money requested in the loan applications, not just the money received. The President has extended the statute of limitations on charges related to PPP and EIDL Loan Fraud from 5 years to 10 years. PPP LOAN FRAUD SENTENCING is based on the Federal Sentencing Guidelines. In any federal fraud case, sentences are based on the "intended loss." That means that if you applied for a $1million loan but didn't receive it, you intended to take $1million from the bank and could be sentenced based on that loan amount. If you committed loan fraud and received a smaller amount like $10,000 or $20,000, there is a good chance that you won't be sentenced to prison but you might be convicted of a federal felony. The larger the loan amount, the longer the sentence. I CANNOT ANSWER GENERAL PPP LOAN QUESTIONS. Please only call if you have been charged with fraud, you are under investigation or if your accounts have been frozen. Thank you. 🙏🏻 Law Office of Diane C.
