*Important Read First* How to Hover PADI IDC Skill Dive Instructor Course Thailand for at least 30 Seconds OBJECTIVE Hover using buoyancy control for at least 30 seconds, without kicking or sculling. VALUE Proper buoyancy control allows you to admire the aquatic world without damaging it. DESCRIPTION The first step is to take a nice deep breath to see if you will rise. If you are negatively buoyant, nothing will happen. Try adding small bursts of air using your low pressure inflator. You may need to repeat this step several times in order to become neutrally buoyant. Eventually, during inhalation, you will start to slowly rise. After exhalation, you should stay neutral at one level. Remember, in order to master the skill, you need to hover without kicking or sculling. Keep your arms and legs locked. Breathe normally to stay at one level. Once the skill has been cut, remember to fully deflate your BCD. Remember, you must hover for at least 30 seconds. ORGANISATION This skill must be performed in water too deep in which to stand The Instructor will demonstrate the skill first then come to each student one at a time. The skill must be held for 30 seconds. If unsuccessful, the skill must be repeated until mastery is achieved. The Divemaster will monitor any student not working directly with the instructor. In this PADI demonstration, performed by Director Mike Parker, you will get an in depth look of the hovering pool skill that requires the faintness of breath once assuming the proper postures for this exercise. After his demo Mike then goes around to each student to critique and check off after they've shown their ability to hover in place and understand this required skill for the Confined Water section of the Open Water Course. This video is also great for new and aspiring PADI Instructors for the best practices on communicating both above and below the surface. The new PADI IDC Skills Circuit has been long awaited by PADI IDC Candidates, Divemasters, DMT's and Course Directors. Most skills in the PADI IDC Skills Circuit have stayed the same, but some have been replaced with new skills. Tips to get the most out of your new PADI IDC Skills Circuit or Divemaster Skill Circuit: 1. Do it Slowly, the slower you demonstrate the new IDC Skill, the easier it is to remember your next step and it also makes you look good. 2. Don't be a robot! Remember that no-one wants to watch or get's inspired from a static, boring Divemaster or Diving Instructor. Try to move fluidly. 3. Care about your scuba diving students. During your new PADI IDC Skills Circuit demonstration you should try and look people in the eye's, smile a bit and make people feel relaxed. 4. Use strong, but friendly scuba diving hand signals during your new PADI IDC Skills Circuit demonstrations. PADI Divemaster (DMT) and Dive Instructor (IDC) Demonstration Dive Skill Workshop or Skill Circuit. During your PADI Divemaster and Dive Instructor IDC course you need to perform a PADI Dive Skill Workshop (Skill Circuit) demonstrating most of the PADI Open Water Diver skills. You will be scored a between a 1 and a 5, with a 5.0 being the highest score and a 1.0 the lowest. Check out these items used in this video: 📷 Canon EOS 60D Camera: 🤍 ➡️ Ikelite 6870.60 Underwater Camera Housing: 🤍 PADI Standards from the PADI Dive Instructor Manual for the Divemaster and IDC course states: “To demonstrate all scuba and skin diving skills, scoring at least a 3 on each skill, and scoring at least 82 points total, with at least one underwater skill to a 5”. Conduct: Describe for candidates the characteristics of a demonstration quality skill, and explain that the focus is on exaggerating the critical attributes. Demonstrate each skill, and have candidates practice. After practice, have candidates perform each skill for a score. Remediate as necessary until candidates meet the performance requirement. Scoring Criteria: 5.0 Exercise performed correctly, slowly and with exaggerated movement – appeared easy 4.0 Exercise performed correctly and slowly enough to adequately exhibit or illustrate details of skill 3.0 Exercise performed correctly, though too quickly to adequately exhibit or illustrate details of the skill 2.0 Exercise performed with significant difficulty or error 1.0 Candidate unable to perform exercise Note: These criteria are used to score skill evaluations throughout all levels of PADI leadership training: PADI Divemaster, PADI Diving Instructor, PADI IDC Staff Instructor and PADI Course Director. To meet the performance requirements of the Divemaster course PADI standards states that you only have to pass 1 Dive Skill Workshop (Skill Circuit). In our opinion this is not enough to become a successful and good Divemaster. Our mission at Sairee Cottage Diving is to train only Divemasters and Dive Instructors with the highest quality possible. For this reason our Divemaster Candidates complete 3 PADI Dive Skill Workshops (Skill Circuits) during their Divemaster course. We even put the level of quality even higher during the PADI Dive Instructor IDC course as we only pass our IDC candidates with 5.0 full points on all skills. We also want to see during the demonstration a lot of “reminders” of important steps to perform the dive skill well and safe. On top of this we only give a 5.0 if the IDC candidate reminds their recreational students about any time or distance in a particular PADI dive skill. 🤍 These are the dive skills: Equipment assembly, adjustment, preparation, donning and disassembly Predive safety check (BWRAF) Deep-water entry Buoyancy check at surface Snorkel-regulator/regulator-snorkel exchange Five-point descent Regulator recovery and clearing Mask removal, replacement and clearing Air depletion exercise and alternate air source use (stationary) Alternate air source-assisted ascent Free-flowing regulator breathing Neutral buoyancy – using both oral and low pressure inflation Five-point ascent Controlled Emergency Swimming Ascent Hover motionless for 30 seconds Underwater swim without a mask Remove and replace weight system underwater Remove and replace scuba unit underwater Remove and replace scuba unit on the surface Remove and replace weight system on the surface Vertical, head first skin dive Swim at least 15 meters/50 feet underwater on a single breath while skin diving. Snorkel clear using the blast method after ascending from a skin dive. Snorkel clear using the displacement method after ascending from a skin dive. Important Read First How to do the CESA skill | PADI IDC Skills Dive Instructor Thailand OBJECTIVE Simulate a controlled emergency swimming ascent by swimming horizontally for at least 9 metres/30 feet while emitting a continuous sound. VALUE In the unlikely event that you are out of air, and your buddy is too far away, you can make a safe controlled ascent. DESCRIPTION First you will need to add air in your BCD to become neutrally buoyant In order to have to swim in a horizontal position to simulate an ascent for 9 metres/30 feet. Just like a normal ascent, have your LPI raised to simulate that you are ready to slowly vent out air, and protecting your head with your other hand. Look in the direction you are swimming while maintaining an open airway. To simulate you are out of air, take one deep breath. As you start to swim remember to emit a continuous sound. You should be swimming off the bottom the entire duration of the skill while constantly exhaling and retaining the second stage in your mouth. This needs to be done for at least 9 metres/30 feet on a single breath in order to meet the objective. ORGANISATION This skill must be performed under water. The Instructor will demonstrate the skill first, and then conduct the skill one by one, while the Divemaster watches over the other students. The instructor will demonstrate the skill in a manner in which he will swim towards the students; however the students will then be asked to swim in a straight line for the required distance. The instructor will position themselves slightly in front of the students, maintaining control by holding on to them, and placing two fingers on the regulator. If the student does not swim for at least 9 metres/30 feet on a single breath, the skill must be repeated until mastery is achieved.
