So approximately 9 months ago, a Pingu iceberg video was uploaded. It was something I actually had the pleasure of helping out with. Anyhow, in the comments of the video I had been hearing about this English dub of Pingu (presumably not a parody dub) which I couldn't find anything about. That was until recently when I finally found it and BOY was it an absolute gold mine! These VHS tapes apparently originate from Korea, seemingly used for teaching children English, reinforced by the "Listen & Repeat" segments at the end of each episode. Humorously though, these tapes don't do English the best and have many weird aspects, even weirder considering it's Pingu, a show known for using a fictional gibberish language that allowed it to be viewed by many across the world. They essentially created their own script based on their own interpretation of the made-up jibber-jabber, except this isn't a parody. Notable things, you'll even see in this video, include: * Poor voice acting, though I do ironically (maybe even unironically) enjoy some of the voices they gave the characters. Pingu's mum sounds like she's trying too hard to be sweet, Pinga sounds like an absolute psychopath and Robby sounds exaggeratedly annoying. Also, Pingg sounds like he as a western accent, I think. * A couple instances of "Oh my God." * Robby is referred to exclusively as "Fur seal." * Several typos and strange, sometimes even robotic sentences. * Sometimes strange delivery of dialogue. * Vastly different episode titles. * A few instances where the original Penguinese wasn't dubbed over, sometimes deliberate (like characters stating names of fish) and sometimes likely because they didn't bother. * The family seem to treat Pingu like their main family name (for instance, Grandpa stating "I am Pingu's grand father" to the mother.) * On a similar note, the father refers to the mother as "Mom," which appears to be quite common amongst kids media (Peppa Pig being a notable example). Not questionable at all... It's definitely an anomaly of the Pingu franchise and one I'm so glad to come across. This video is simply a small compilation of my favourite lines from VHS' 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 (3 hasn't been uploaded) and even then I'm likely missing out a lot. I recommend you check it out yourself. So i guess the original was deleted for some reason? Idk if the video owner either A. Just deleted the video or B. Deleted his channel As i don't know i figure i would make my own for the lolz and i don't remember if the original was in HD but this is so there's some positive to this. You don't know how long it took to find the episode in Korean, i had to practically learn Korean and use a Korean google to find this. If anyone for some reason wants me to upload the full clip of this or a video with just the edited last part maybe with 30 seconds of nothing at the beginning so that you can put this on full volume at a library or something then let me know in the comments man i got you
