You can boat down the entire Mississippi River? This video is more than a day dream. I guarantee someone watching this video will be inspired to experience a part of the Mississippi for themselves, either by canoe, kayak, paddle board, or power boat. For everyone else this video should change your perception about what the Mississippi River is, and how it can be experienced. In 2022 I paddled a kayak from the headwaters in Itasca State Park, Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico, where the River exits South Pass in Louisiana. This adventure took me about twice as long as I originally anticipated and there were a ton of surprises along the way. For example, I got most of my gear stolen before I even reached Minneapolis... but everything worked out okay in the end. Outside of Molina, Chile, lies one of the most incredible places to experience. The rio Claro is a river that you can only truly appreciate its glory, and many sections are only possible to access, by kayaking it. It is about as narrow, and committing as kayaking gets. It is one of my favorite runs in the world, and by far one of the most beautiful. The chrystal clear water, the towering overhanging walls of the gorge, and the endless drops. It is a place like one other, and I am always counting down the days till I can drop back in.

For weeks I've been itching to get my Melker Rodloga to the coast to see how it performs in the sea. Unfortunately I was having an off day and made some judgement errors that could have gotten me seriously hurt. Thankfully the boat took the brunt of the abuse and I walked away with a few scratches, and a bruised ego. The Melker on the Other hand had a hole the size of a Banana right through the bow. Thankfully as a crew we had the kit needed to do a half baked field repair that was able to limp me home. Lots of lessons were learned on this trip. Our foundation knowledge of C.L.A.P (Communication, Line of Sight, Avoidance, Positioning) all broke down. I was caught in a spot I never should have been. We should have discussed communication and hand signals before we got into rough water. Line of Sight was good, and Nick had eyes on me the whole time and was right on me as soon as it was safe to do so. Avoidance would have meant looking at closer at my surroundings, acknowledging my mental state and choosing a safer route. Lastly Positioning, had I been in a better positiion were I had a better visual at the sea I would have seen the sets coming. I was in my head and looking where I did not want the kayak to go, and because of that I turned by back on the sea and paid for it! It's important to know that I have been trained on all of this for years! I made the mistake of being complacent, and being rushed. These skills are something that needs to be exercised and refreshed! One and done instruction doesn't work on the ocean. Since this video I've taken a 3 day coastal training from the pros at Liquid Fusion Kayaking in Fort Bragg. I'll have a future story on that whole process. I hope you learn from my mistakes and get proper instruction. Thanks for paddling with me today. Learn how to get back in a canoe / Flip and Re-Enter if you find it takes on water or capsizes. Used in deep water when your alone / solo! Large and Heavier Canoes are hard to flip. This is a technique that's a bit easier to manage. This is good for canoeing for beginners or advanced canoeists. It's used if you find yourself far from shore and cant swim to it. Since this canoe is about 16'6 long - the Capistrano Flip Method doesn't really work for me. In this video I show how to empty a swamped canoe, flip it over, and then get in - all in deep water. Best piece of advice I can give here is to practice the technique so you can stay calm and perform it if you ever need to! Stu Telfer, Harrison Stacey, Jarrah Anderson + Chloe Pocock have discovered the cure for rainy day boredom—all you need is a kayak, a manmade waterslide, and a "send it" mentality. Once the rain started coming down, this trio of friends made a road trip to Lions Bay, BC, where they had seen an extremely long drainage ditch that's perfect for a kayaking. I have been asked to post longer videos from scenic locations without music. You can consider this as slow TV, as nothing really happens in this video except for the change of scenery. This is a 39 min video from Jølstravatnet lake in Jølster. About 20 min paddle out and 19 min return. Although this part of the lake is called Kjøsnesfjorden, it is not a saltwater fjord. I was filming 5 K with the GoPro 9 from the front of my kayak. I will post the 5 K video without the kayak bow later. This was filmed with a GoPro 9 mounted on my helmet.
