Jessia Islam is a Bangladeshi model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Bangladesh 2017. She will represent Bangladesh in the Miss World 2017 competition. Miss World Bangladesh winner Jessia Islam currently ranks second in a public voting with 15.35% of the total votes. She is competing with contestants from a total of 120 countries in the initial “Head to Head Challenge round at the 67th Miss World 2017, which is taking place in China. The other two of the top three contestants are Nepal’s Nikita Chandak (19.88%) and Mongolia’s Enkhjin Tseveendash (11.16%). In the round, which has been added for the first time ever in the history of Miss World competition, each contestant has been drawn into one of 20 groups, each comprising six contestants. The other five contestants in Jessia’s group are from Botswana, Brazil, South Africa, Canada and Ethiopia. The public voting has begun to engage the audience with this year’s edition of the international beauty pageant. Everyone can vote for the contestants from their respective countries on the Miss World official website. The list of top 40 contestants will be finalised based on the results of the “Head to Head Challenge” round that started with its “live” draw at a closed door event at the Oasis O City Hotel in Shenzhen, China on October 31. The 40 beauty queens will then attend different categories of the competition at the finale at Chimelong Ocean Kingdom in Sanya on November 18. The two-and-a-half-hour long event will be hosted by Tim Vincent, Megan Young and Steve Douglas. মেধা ও সৌন্দর্যের প্রতিযোগিতায় সেরা হওয়ার লড়াইয়ের ৬৭ বছর ধরে লড়ছেন বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন দেশের তরুণীরা। এবার চীনের সানাইয়া শহরে অনুষ্ঠিত ৬৭তম আসরে ছিলেন ‘মিস ওয়ার্ল্ড বাংলাদেশ’ জেসিয়া ইসলাম। দেশে ফিরে প্রথম আলোর সঙ্গে বললেন তাঁর অভিজ্ঞতা আর ভবিষ্যৎ পরিকল্পনা নিয়ে। ভবিষ্যতে যাঁরা মিস ওয়ার্ল্ড প্রতিযোগিতায় অংশ নেওয়ার জন্য স্বপ্ন দেখছেন, কথার ফাঁকে তাঁদের জন্য কিছু পরামর্শ দেন তিনি। ‘মিস ওয়ার্ল্ড বাংলাদেশ’ প্রতিযোগিতায় নাম নিবন্ধনের আগে থেকেই জেসিয়া ইসলাম মডেলিংয়ের সঙ্গে যুক্ত ছিলেন। এখনো মডেলিং তাঁর প্রথম পছন্দ। তবে চলচ্চিত্রের প্রতিও রয়েছে তাঁর আগ্রহ। ভবিষ্যতে যাঁরা মিস ওয়ার্ল্ড প্রতিযোগিতায় বাংলাদেশের প্রতিনিধিত্ব করতে চান, তাঁদের জন্য জেসিয়া বলেন, ‘শুরুতে অবশ্যই বাংলাদেশ থেকে তাঁকে সেরা হতে হবে। যাঁরা সামনের আসরে মিস ওয়ার্ল্ডে নাম লেখাতে চান, তাঁরা ইউটিউবে এই প্রতিযোগিতার অন্য বছরগুলোর আয়োজনের ভিডিও ক্লিপ বেশি বেশি করে দেখবেন। এখান থেকে অনেক কিছু জানা যাবে, শেখা যাবে। পোশাক আর ফ্যাশন সম্পর্কে ভালো ধারণা পাবেন।’ সামাজিক কোনো কর্মকাণ্ডের সঙ্গে যুক্ত থাকতে পারলে যেকোনো প্রতিযোগী এই প্রতিযোগিতায় সুবিধাজনক অবস্থানে থাকতে পারবেন বলেও জানান জেসিয়া। বললেন, ‘এবার মিস ওয়ার্ল্ড প্রতিযোগিতায় ভারতের মানুষি শিলার মেধা আর যোগ্যতার পাশাপাশি সামাজিক কর্মকাণ্ডের জন্য নিজেকে এগিয়ে নিয়ে গেছেন। ব্যক্তিত্ব প্রতিটি মানুষের মধ্যেই থাকে। কিন্তু কে কত সুন্দরভাবে তা প্রকাশ করতে পারছে, সেটাই হচ্ছে আসল ব্যাপার।’ মিস ওয়ার্ল্ড প্রতিযোগিতায় ফিটনেস একটা বড় ব্যাপার বলে জানান জেসিয়া। নিজের শারীরিক ফিটনেস ধরে রাখতে জেসিয়া কী করেন? তিনি বলেন, ‘নিয়ম মেনে খাবার খাচ্ছি। আমি সব খাবার খাই, তবে তা পরিমাণমতো। খাবারের মধ্যে সবচেয়ে বেশি খাওয়া হয় ফল। এ ছাড়া ফিটনেস ধরে রাখতে প্রতিদিন নির্দিষ্ট সময় হাঁটাহাঁটি করি। কখনো জিমে যাওয়ার প্রয়োজন হয়নি।’ বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন দেশের সুন্দরীদের সঙ্গে এক মাস বিশ্বসুন্দরী প্রতিযোগিতায় সেরা হওয়ার লড়াইয়ে ছিলেন বাংলাদেশের মেয়ে জেসিয়া ইসলাম। এই প্রতিযোগিতায় সেরা হয়েছেন ভারতের মানুষি শিলার। সেরার মুকুট জিততে না পারলেও সেরা চল্লিশে থাকতে পেরেছেন, তাতেই সন্তুষ্ট ‘মিস ওয়ার্ল্ড বাংলাদেশ’। Please Subscribe: 🤍 - Our other Youtube channels; Prothom Alo Recipes : 🤍 Prothom Alo Beauty & Style : 🤍 Prothom Alo News : 🤍 - Also Find us Official site: 🤍 G+ Prothom Alo: 🤍 Facebook Page: 🤍 Twitter Official: 🤍 Pinterest: 🤍 Instagram : 🤍

Avril, who was crowned Saturday at the end of a gala night, had to be disqualified after it was reported following her victory that she concealed the fact that she had been married while entering the competition. Besides, the six judges also spoke to the media after the event to reveal they had not even chosen her - at least two of the judges said she was not even in their top 3. Avril was the choice of the organizers, it was alleged. Bibi Russel, the internationally recognized Bangladeshi fashion designer who was one of the judges of the competition, announced the new winner during a press briefing at a hotel in the capital. Two other judges, actress Shampa Reza and photographer Chanchal Mahmood, were also present for the rehashed prize giving ceremony held after the press briefing. Bibi Russel crowned Jessia Islam with the crown after announcing her as the new Miss World Bangladesh-2017. Earlier, on Saturday, Jannatul Nayeem Avril was announced as the winner of the competition but later, the allegation of hiding information about her marriage arose against her. Antar Showbiz Chairman Shapan Chowdhury, one of the organizers of the competition, said the mistakes and mismanagement were a big lesson for the organizers. Pleading inexperience, as it was the first time arranging such a competition, Chowdhury pledged to be more alert to such mistakes in the future. Chowdhury himself had taken the microphone off presenter Sheena Chouhan's hands on Saturday and announced Avril as the winner, after Chouhan had announced a different winner, Jannatul Sumaiya. The first and second runners ups, somewhat mysteriously, also changed with the original second runner up, Jannatul Sumaiya, who logically should have moved up to first runner up, left out altogether from the new winners announced on Wednesday. Jessia Islam will now be representing Bangladesh in November's Miss World competition in China, the first time Bangladesh is going to participate in this competition. The controversy surrounding the competition and Antar Showbiz's handling of it however, is likely to persist. Apart from providing no explanation as to why a winner different from the judges' choice was announced on Saturday, that too by the organizer himself, or why Sumaiya was left out of the final list of winners, they have also displayed their sheer incompetence in not vetting the information provided by the participants.
