Dhanurasana - Bow Pose is a posture resembling the shape of a bow. Dhanurasana steps when followed and practised in the right manner has proven to positively ease constipation and menstrual discomfort. Dhanurasana benefits also include stimulation of the reproductive organs, strengthening the back and abdominal muscles, along with toning of leg and arm muscles. The bow pose benefits those with kidneys problems as well. The posture is however not advisable for women during pregnancy, those with high or low blood pressure. Those with neck injury, lower back concerns, hernia, migraine headaches and any kind of recent abdominal surgeries are not advised to practise this pose. Bow Pose or Dhanurasana has a lot of benefits starting from maintaining our posture to the health of our inner organs like the digestive system, reproductive system, and respiratory system. Bow pose opens up the chest muscles and ribs so improve breathing. It stretches our lower back so good for posture and spine health. This posture massage the organs of the digestive system and reproductive system to good to cure indigestion, constipation, PCOD/PCOS, and any other abdominal issues. Bow pose also stretches the quads and ankles and complete lower body so it increases the flexibility of the legs and thighs too. Perform these few asanas as the preparatory poses for Bow pose, also follow the shoulder stretching routine from here, 🤍 , as it will help you to open up your shoulder and you can easily reach out to your legs in Bow Pose. 🤍 Shortening the hip flexors will cause the following patterns: If one or more of the hip flexors is short, the pelvis will tend towards greater anterior tilt increasing lumbar lordosis. This condition will cause high compression loads on the posterior part of the lower vertebrae. In other words, limitation in hip flexor extension will be expressed immediately in overextension in the lower back. On the other hand, the better the hip joint extension, the easier lumbar spine extension will be and in the upward bow, pose extension will be well and evenly divided over more joints.

Before I could do a full bow⬇️ I worked on building strength through hands free cobra & locust pose I worked on flexibility through other backbends like bow pose without the flipped grip, camel, wheel pose, king pigeon pose I worked on flipping my grip in king cobra and full bow using a strap and slowly reduced the amount of strap that I used so my hand was closer to my foot each time I worked on listening to my body and only going to 70/80% of my flexibility, and made sure I could breathe deeply in the pose which is important so the body can feel safe
