The cheap bike challenge - $148 Las Vegas Edition - I buy a cheap mountain bike from Walmart and push the limits on urban MTB freeride lines, pump tracks, jumps and even a skatepark and see how long this MTB can last! I was over in Las Vegas, USA for a quick trip on the way home from Mexico and decided to go buy a bike from a Walmart Supercenter and shred it until it breaks to find out how long such a bike can last. I start the video off in a drainage ditch somewhere on the outskirts of Vegas, where I find out that the bike is pretty good. From here I headed to a pump track that was filled with loads of jumps and features to ride and got this cheap full suspension bike airborne and pulled off a few tricks. I then modified the bike to allow barspins before moving into the Las Vegas strip where I found I pretty fun stair set of doom to rip down before heading to old vegas. After exploring the lights I then found a small skatepark where the bike was sent quite heavily and I found the limits of what this bike can do! Would you ride this? I hope you enjoy the video! In this video I traveled to Blue Diamond, Nevada which is just about 35 mins from my home in Henderson Nevada or about 25 mins from the Las Vegas strip. The city of Blue Diamond has only about 260 residents, but it lies right in the middle of over 70 of the best mountain bike trails in the Las Vegas area. This trail region is called the Cottonwood Valley Trail System. LANDMINE LOOP TRAIL: The trail I road during this video is called The Landmine Loop Trail. This trail offers the main access to the rest of Blue Diamond/Cottonwood Valley trails. It's a pretty decent climb and a fun and challenging downhill when you're headed back in. Don't forget to look up and look around.. you can get some great views of the red hills of the canyon. This trail is mainly dirt and rock but it can get technical at times. You can split off this trail at any time to find some more fun dirt or use it to do laps around the mountain. This trail is 7.2 miles long with 511 ft of climbing. There is really nothing to technical about this trail. There are a lot of large boulders on the backside of the trail which might make beginner riders nervous. The boulders are how Landmine Loop got its name actually. The average time to complete the trail is 1 hour but on an eMTB you can do it in 45 mins or less easily. Finding the trailhead is a little tricky. You will need to ride from the parking area through some residential streets to get to the starting point. Use Trailforks as a guide and she should have no problem. There is also full cellphone service through most of the Cottonwood Valley region. NOTE: You can also connect from this trail to make a large loop of 9.5 miles. That trail is called "The Blue Diamond Loop". TRAIL INFO: 🤍 & 🤍 PARKING TIP: There is a Trek bike repair and bike rental shop in Blue Diamond with a lot of parking spots. This is a great spot to park and socialize with other MTB riders. This parking area fills up quick on good weather weekends so if you can't find a spot there, park near the baseball field/community park. BIKE SHOP: There is a Trek bike repair and bike rental shop in Blue Diamond. They rent MTB's, EMTBS, Road Cycling bikes, as well as carry a decent amount of the common parts. They also do repairs on site and have tools, water, air, and bike washing stations. This shop is not open every day so check their site for more info: 🤍 RESTAURANT: There is a bike friendly restaurant right next to the Trek bike shop. Cottonwood Station is a local scenic eatery which attracts many hikers, mountain bike riders, road cyclists from around the world. MY BIKE: Luna Cycle X1 Enduro Electric Mountain Bike (EMTB) - 🤍 FOR VIDEO NERDS: I tested shooting this video with my Insta 360 One R in Log mode (or flat color mode). Unfortunately, my drone does not have a flat color mode. Thus trying to color grade the videos from both cameras turned out to be a challenge. I find it easier to leave the Insta 360 One R in Vivid Color mode instead of Log mode because the color closely matches the drone footage with only some minor adjustments. I just ordered another One R with a 1" lens mod. I will be testing that later this week. In this episode of Ride With Us, Best In Vegas series, we travel to the Las Vegas Wetlands Park area where there are 21 miles of mostly paved bike trails. The Las Vegas Creek Wetlands Loop Trail is and easy level, moderately trafficked, bike trail that features a river, lake, wildlife, many covered rest and bathroom facilities and exceptional scenic views of the Las Vegas valley. The elevation gains are only about 669 ft and gradual so it is great for all skill levels. Although I was on an eBike, I pedaled 16 of the 18 miles we rode without any battery assistance. Melanie pedaled the entire trail with no eBike. * Note - The river crossing that you see on the thumbnail and video can be avoided with an alternate route that we were not aware of until after we completed the ride. Almost all motorcycle-based stunts are distance jumps, usually jumping over something or a variety of things (oftentimes cars, in the Knievel days). But rarely is it jumping off of something. Robbie launched a huge jump on to the top of the Arc (modeled after the real one in France) at the Paris Casino in Sin City, but that was the easy part. He then turned around and jumped off, dropping about 10 stories and almost overshooting the landing completely. Luckily, he saved it, because that one would not have felt too good. On my trip to Las Vegas, I was able to rent a road bike after the CES. I hit up Las Vegas Cyclery for a Specialized Tarmac Sport in size 56cm. It was the perfect place to head out to the Red Rock Canyon from. I took the I-215 West Beltway Trail from Las Vegas Cyclery all the way to Route 159 W Charleston Blvd. Turned left and took 159 (which has a cycling lane up to a certain point just before the residential area ends) all the way to the Red Rock Canyon Scenic Loop . There's plenty of shoulder on the highway on 159 Red Rock Canyon Rd, but always be cautious on the roads. It's about $5-8 entry for a cyclist, depending on the attendant you get. Grab a pit stop at the Visitor Centre just past the entrance gates for some water and a washroom break. There's even a vending machine if you forgot snacks/drinks. The Red Rock Canyon Scenic Loop itself is breathtaking. It's basically a 2-lane one-way road that takes your through some beautiful landscape. It's got punchy climbs and descents, and I fared quite well on the rim-brake 🤍specializedbicycles Tarmac Sport. There were a few places I wanted to stop to do some hiking, but that will have to wait until tomorrow's vlog. Highly recommend you visit the folks at 🤍lasvegascyclery for a bike rental if you visit Las Vegas. They've got road bikes, hybrid, electric and mountain bikes. First sunrise ride for the boys. We were able to meet up with JLak and Jeff for this last spin : ) Deadhorse Loop was a friendly climb to the top. Sun hitting the mountain peaks was majestic at this time of day. Very rewarding for the sacrifice of sleep. 3 Mile Smile was the real deal people, absolutely lived up to the name. It was a flow trail with berm and jumps allowing us to reach high end speeds as the valley opened up. We all had smiles at the end, a perfect trail to wrap up the trip!

The widowmaker only has a 3% survival rate but I was one of the lucky ones. Clark County Wetlands is a huge nature park on the south east side of Las Vegas. It covers 2,900 acres of land and has a special area called the Nature Preserve that's 210 acres. The park has five trailheads that I cover in the video! The Wetlands Park Nature Center has different activities and events. There are guided walks with experts, art, things for kids to do, and chances for people to help out as volunteers. Las Vegas Mountain Biking in Blue Diamond Summer 2023 - High Definition Drone Video. This video was shot just outside of Las Vegas, Nevada around the town of Blue Diamond, which you see some shots of in the beginning of the video. It is in the Cottonwood Canyon area south of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area that's about to get butt raped by bankrupt developer Jim Rhodes with thousands of houses, convenient stores and trash everywhere in this beautiful desert - just like these guys pulling cactus needles out of their asses, but the landscape won't heal. This video's beginning part is a bit of a joke (midway through the ride) after battery powered Cyber-Chip backed into a cactus and had some needles in his ass. And so were the songs picked out for this particular video - Lil Nas X, Old Town Road and Bon Jovi's, Wanted Dead or Alive. AJ's shoulder is still messed up from going OTB at Lee Canyon Bike Park, so he took the Jeep out and followed the guys on an early morning bike ride. It was almost 90 degrees before sunrise out there and by the time the ride was over at 8:30, the temperature was 100. The Las Vegas Police Department is working to identify a passenger who filmed and posted a hit-and-run on social media that killed retired police chief Andreas Probst while he was riding his bicycle. The 17-year-old driver of the car is already in custody. How I see it: South Africa is the latest in this infamous series where me and Max Fredriksson ride the most incredible cities and countries in the world and this episode is certainly the best one I've ever made! We start the adventure by arriving via Yacht into the blue sea's surrounding Cape Town before meeting the Monster Energy girls to collect our bikes and start the craziest ride of our lives. We make our way into the hustle and bustle of Cape Town city centre hitting urban freeride spots on the way before arriving at our Helicopter ride just in time to pack the bikes and fly out into the mountains. After landing we hit the famous Hellsend compound and the huge dirt jumps with tricks and spins on our custom jump bikes before heading off in search of more riding in a high powered v8 sports car! We make are way back to the finish point which is the top of lions head mountain hitting more jumps and urban downhill before running the hiking trail to the top of the mountain to end the best video i've ever made over looking this incredible place!!! Riding the Flow Job trail was recommended to us by the local Trek bike shop. We had one more day in the Las Vegas area to mountain biking near Blue Diamond. The ride started with a 6 mile road ride, which cruised right by, and led us to some amazing Red Rocks Canyon views. After the road ride we climbed up some really fun switchbacks that were full of small rocky ledges. These ledges were great to get some not too technical uphill riding in, and get warmed up for the downhill to come. The Flow Job downhill MTB portion was a little more exposed on loose pebbles than I like. Or that I like to really push my speed on this early in the year. That all being said... the views were outstanding, but you want to keep your eyes on the trail 😉! My favorite part of the Flow Job trail was the last couple of miles, where you drop into more of a canyon. There is some rocky downhill tech that was fun (not big enough to call them drops), and you looking into this mini canyon/wash. Want to help support the channel?
