Kenneth William David Hensley (24 August 1945 – 4 November 2020) was an English singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer, best known for his work with Uriah Heep during the 1970s. He wrote or co-wrote the majority of Uriah Heep's songs during this period, including the hit singles "Lady in Black" (on which he sang lead vocals), "Easy Livin'" and "Stealin'", as well as "Look at Yourself", on which he also sang lead vocals, and "Free Me". "Sympathy" is a song originally released on their tenth studio album Firefly in 1976.The song has been written by Ken Hensley and sung by John Lawton. Later the same year the song has been released as the second and last single from the album. It is also the first single with John Lawton that charted when it peaked at No. 37 in Germany. The song was recorded and mixed at Roundhouse Recording studios in London between October and November 1976, then was released subsequently on the album on 7 December 1976, one day before beginning their US tour in support of Kiss in Macon, Georgia. "The Wizard" is a single from rock band Uriah Heep's 1972 album Demons & Wizards and was the first single to be lifted from the album. It was composed by Mark Clarke and Ken Hensley. It is a gentle, semi-acoustic ballad whose lyrics deal with a man wandering until he meets "the Wizard of a thousand kings", a possible reference to the druid Merlin, to Gandalf, to an angel or even God.

Paradise - The Spell by Uriah heep -David Byron -Ken Hensley -Mick Box -Gary Thain -Lee Kerslake -Mark Clarke From the Album Demons and Wizards (1972) Demons and Wizards is the fourth album released by British rock band Uriah Heep. The original vinyl release was a gatefold sleeve, the front of which was designed by Roger Dean and contains a hidden erotic image of male and female genitalia. The inner of the gatefold had pictures of the band and notes by Ken Hensley, whilst the LP itself was housed in a liner on which were printed the lyrics. The songs "The Wizard" and "Easy Livin'" were released as singles in the United Kingdom and North America, as well as many other markets. "Easy Livin'" entered the US Top 40 at #39, making it Heep's first American hit. "Easy Livin'" was also a mega hit in New Zealand and Germany, countries which were becoming a strong market for the band. It reached a disappointing #75 in Australia. Demons and Wizards was certified Gold in the US on 27 October 1972. RIAA certification The album also served as partial inspiration for Hansi Kürsch and Jon Schaffer's side-project Demons and Wizards Lyrics: I feel you trying, though in my heart I know you're lying.
