What will a Ruto presidency mean for Uganda?

Meanwhile, news of the declaration of William Ruto as Kenya's President-elect has been welcomed by many, who are hoping that his leadership will build on the foundation he built with the outgoing president Uhuru Kenyatta. Speaking to NTV, Foreign Affairs Minister Oryem Okello says Uganda is interested in concluding the standard gauge railway deal that connects the two countries for easy transportation of goods and people. However, as Sudhir Byaruhanga. reports, a section of analysts argue that there is no need for Ugandans to be excited about Ruto’s victory as he will be pushing a Kenyan agenda. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit 🤍 Follow us on Twitter 🤍 Connect with us on Messenger via

You’ve probably heard of the saying, Ugandans don’t wear a Rolex, they eat it! It is absolutely true, what we do with the Rolex is, roll it up and straight to the mouth. So here’s is the difference between the international Rolex and the Ugandan Rolex. In Uganda, we don't wear Rolex, we eat it. 2. Home to Iddi Amin. One of Uganda's biggest exports is it's former president Iddi Amin who ruled the country from 1971-1979. He named himself the conqueror of the British Empire and he's also most famous for expelling Asian from the country in order to give back the Ugandan economy to Ugandans. 3. Equator crosses through Uganda. Earth’s equator is an imaginary line dividing the North and South hemispheres. There are only a few countries that the equator runs through, including Ecuador and the Democratic Republic of Congo. In Uganda, the equator is located 75 km south of Kampala, where you can purchase memorabilia and watch cool equator water experiments. 4. Best African English-speaking Country. Uganda is known as the number one African country when it comes to the English language. According to a study that was done by the World Linguistic society, it ranked Uganda as the African country with the best accent. 5. Most Entrepreneurial country in the world. Uganda has the most number of business startups annually though many of these never get to celebrate their one year anniversary. 6. Home to the second-largest Fresh Water lake (Lake Victoria). Its surface area more than 26,000 square miles, Lake Victoria (named for Queen Victoria) is the biggest lake on the continent of Africa and the globe’s second-largest freshwater lake, trailing North America’s Lake Superior. 7. Uganda has its own time. You’re probably now wondering which kind of time only belongs to Uganda. I am not talking about the EAT, CAT, or PST time; our time is called “Ugandan time.” International or normal time as many call it is the real-time ( for example if the appointment is at 3 pm, normal time will be at 3 pm). 8. Source of the Nile. River Nile which is the longest river in the world happens to have its source in Uganda. This river starts from Uganda nad it moves up north to Egypt whee it pours its waters in the Mediterenean sea. 9. Matooke/Banana Republic. When you travel to Uganda, the most common local food you’ll hear about is Matooke. 10. Safest Country In Africa. Many tourists that visit this country leave without any problems or incidents.

The United States is warning Africa not to buy goods off of Russia other than grain and fertilizer or else risk sanctions themselves. Is that threat in bad form? Kampala, Uganda (No Talking)

This is Kampala, Uganda (No Talking). In this video you can feel and see what it's like to walk through central Kampala. Kampala is the biggest city and the capital of Uganda. I being my journey from the outskirts of Kampala and ride into central Kampala on a motorcycle taxi. We can see the streets getting busier and busier as we approach central Kampala. After arriving I begin walking through a shopping area. Shopping areas are very unique in Uganda. They are a bit disorganized but this is central Kampala where everyone comes to buy things they need. Eventually I find my way to the taxi park where there is an expansive view of thousands of shuttle vans that will take you to all reaches of Uganda. After this I stop on some streets to get some very still and clear footage of the hustle and bustle of the streets here in central Kampala. I also show a nice lunch I had of traditional Ugandan food. It was delicious and cheap. From the restaurant there was an amazing bird's eye view of central Kampala. After some more time exploring I got on a motorcycle taxi which took me through the busy areas of Kampala and then onward to my village which is far away from the city. 0:00 My journey from the outskirts of Kampala into the center of the city 3:38 Arrival in central Kampala and my walk around starts 5:10 Walking down a street in central Kampala 5:46 A busy chaotic intersection 6:30 Walking down dirt roads in central Kampala 8:50 Thousands of shuttle vans, the hub of transportation 9:39 Standstill view of sidewalk packed with people and interesting shops 10:24 A glimpse of traditional Ugandan food I had for lunch 10:53 Amazing bird's eye view of central Kampala 15:37 Riding a motorcycle through central Kampala 17:47 A quiet place near Lake Victoria outside of central Kampala I love writing music. 10 Things You Didn't Know About Uganda

Hello Displorers, welcome back to another informative video, presented by Displore, As you all know, it’s always a pleasure presenting to you some interesting but lesser known facts about the beautiful countries on the African continent. Today we are excited to present to you some lesser known facts about the beautiful country of Uganda. Officially refered to as the Republic of Uganda, Uganda is a landlocked country located in the East-Central part of Africa, It is bordered to the east by Kenya, to the north by South Sudan, to the west by the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to the south-west by Rwanda, and to the south by Tanzania. Uganda is relatively small compared to Kenya, Ethiopia, and Tanzania. It ranks 33rd in terms of area in Africa and 10th in population. As of 2019, the population was estimated at 44 million, six million less than Kenya, which is twice as large in size. Uganda is a country rich in history and full of lush natural beauty from border to border. However, it often falls under travelers’ radar due to past political conflicts, and the relative difficulty of getting there. But that doesn’t mean there’s not plenty to discover about this east African country If you are new here, welcome, be sure to subscribe and turn on notification so you don’t miss any of our videos The capital city of Uganda is kampala and English and Swahili are the official languages of the country. With that said, let’s take a closer look at this country with the 10 things you didn’t know about Uganda. 1. Uganda is the most Entrepreneurial country in the world Shocking Right? I bet if you were asked which countries were the most entrepreneurial in the world you would probably say, China, the United states or even Great Britain, Well sorry to disappoint you, the most Entrepreneurial country in the world is actually Uganda. Uganda, whose economy was devastated by dictatorship a few decades ago, now has the planet's highest proportion of people who have started their own businesses. 28 per cent of its adult population in Uganda started businesses in the last 42 months, which is almost twice as high as any other country in the world. Thailand comes in second place with 16.7 per cent, and Brazil in third with 13.8 per cent. Uganda's success, the report claims, is the result of a huge improvement in communication networks recently, which have linked up different parts of the country and connected it to the rest of the world. In general, developing nations came highest on the list of 73 countries. Of all the developed countries, Australia ranked highest in 29th place, followed by Canada in 30th place. 2. Uganda has the Second Youngest Population in the world According to the latest World population review, Uganda has the second youngest population in the world right after Niger with 55% of its population below the age of 15 years with a life expectancy of 58 years old. According to reports about two Million Babies are born in Uganda per year. The young population is also accredited to high fertility rates seeing as of 2017, the average female gives birth to 6 children. Also early marriage and lack of family planning is also responsible for the rate birth rate in the country. Uganda is one of the poorest in the world due to the hign dependency rate of the population given the fact that it consist mainly of minors who cannot fend for themselves. Although the Ugandan government is trying to reduce birth rate in the country, their efforts seems abortive. 3. Uganda is the second most populated landlock country in the world As earlier mentioned Uganda is a landlock country located in the central eastern part of Africa and has a surface area of about 241.083 km square making it the 33rd largest country in Africa and 79th in the world. In terms of population, the country has over 44 million making it the second most populated landlock country in the world after Ethiopia. 4. Yoweri Museveni has been the president of Uganda for more than 3 decades Uganda has been ruled by President Yoweri Museveni for the past 33 years and from the look of things, he is unlikely to step down anytime soon. Museveni rose to power in 1986 after overthrowing Tito Okello in a military coup. Since then, Uganda has remained politically stable except for the Lord Resistance Army that operates in the jungles of Uganda and the DRC. For the same period, the United States has had six presidents. Museveni rules Uganda with an iron fist and crushes anyone who opposes his regime, though he is not considered a dictator. 5. Uganda is home to the world second Fresh water lake Lake Victoria is one of the African Great Lakes. The lake was renamed Lake Victoria after Queen Victoria by the explorer John Hanning Speke, in his reports—the first Briton to document it. With a surface area of approximately 59,947 square ilometers , Lake Victoria is Africa’s largest lake by area, the world’s largest tropical lake, and the world’s second larges

Katanga Slum, Uganda (When you see this . . .)

Katanga Slum, Uganda (When you see this . . .) Today I went to visit, film and document Katanga Slum, a well known slum in Kampala, Uganda. Even before I arrived in Katanga Slum the scenery was amazing as we snaked our way through the crowds of workers, pedestrians vendors and automobiles all fighting for space on the bustling streets of the city. As soon as I got to Katanga slum a large family wanted to talk to me. This drew a lot of interest from the surrounding people and many more people wanted to be filmed and share their thoughts and feelings with the world. I thought they all had a unique perspective. Katanga Slum is an interesting place which presents an interesting set of challenges for anyone living there. After chatting with some people some local kids guided us through Katanga slum. It's like walking through a maze if you've never been there before. The narrow pathways were lined with shanties and improvised structures that served as these people's homes. Despite how appalling these living conditions look, the people were very welcoming and kind and were very eager to talk and share their stories on camera. I was really touched by the humbleness and gentle nature of the people of Katanga Slum. Murchison Falls National Park, located in the northwest, is famed for its 43-meter-high waterfall and fauna, including hippos. Sir Winston Churchill referred to Uganda as the "jewel of Africa" in his book "My African Journey" published in 1908. Uganda is a country rich in natural resources, topographic characteristics, and lively nightlife scenes, and is known for its beautiful wildlife, stunning colors, and natural beauty. Uganda, being a country of immense beauty, is making multiple efforts to enhance its splendour while also growing its economy. Uganda is in the midst of implementing major and mind-blowing development initiatives in order to better the lives of its population. Here are the top ten projects highlighting Uganda, the "jewel of Africa." Please make sure to like and subscribe to Africa Reloaded before we start the countdown. 10. KABALE ENERGY PROJECT ($5 MILLION). Energy is the driving force behind any country's economic development. Uganda requires adequate, dependable, and inexpensive energy in order to achieve long-term growth. As a result, energy is a high-priority area for the country's development. Uganda has vast natural resources such as minerals, hydro, geothermal, petroleum, and solar thermal energy, but only a small portion of their potential has been realized. The rural Kabale electrification project is nearing completion of a 33 MW power station based on 'Peat' technology near Kabale town in Uganda's south west. It is aimed at Uganda's social and economic growth, with the goal of increasing power use and improving security through improved lighting systems. The total cost of the project is anticipated to be $5 million. The electricity will be delivered to a government utility. The Significance of EACOP to Uganda and the East African Region

#90daysofoil We are looking at a big catalyst that is going to transform the economy of this country. This resource isn’t just an Uganda resource, this resource is regional, it is continental if we exploit this resource, it is going to transform our economy. EACOP is an EAC arrangement the whole exercise is going to get oil from Hoima to Tanga. All the sectors will benefit, jobs will be created, and infrastructure will be built, One the most important is the Kabaale International airport in Hoima. The airport will service the region. Many other countries including, Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan, Zambia, and Malawi are also knocking on the doors to join the EAC because it is a very organized institution and has opportunities for everybody. We are suffering from an economic crisis that has been occasioned by rising fuel prices. #tangaport #ugandaoil #oilandgas #EAC #PSFU
