Since the film was to be made on a shoestring and marketed on a low-level basis, the risk factor to United Artists was small. For Stallone, this was a make-or-break opportunity just like Rocky's million-to-one shot with Apollo Creed. Costing under a million dollars, Rocky managed to register with audiences everywhere, earning back 60 times its cost. The film won several Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Did you know this in Rocky 4? More than 8000 people auditioned for the part of Ivan Drago. Dolph Lundgren was one of them and was rejected by casting directors because he was too tall. Later, when he met Sylvester Stallone, he shared his photos with him. Stallone was so impressed that he told him he had a good chance of getting the role, only if he gained 20 pounds of muscle. MERCH DROP WAITING LIST: 🤍 Rocky is one of the most iconic movies of all time. Along with winning best picture for new-coming writer, director, and actor, Sylvester Stallone, in 1976, the film inspired 5 sequels and the spinoff film series “Creed” starring Michael B. Jordan. As an up and coming boxer myself, I thought I’d take a look at the work of Rocky Balboa to see if he included medical accuracy in his boxing epic based out of Philadelphia. Carl Weathers playing Apollo Creed, Dolph Lundgren as Ivan Drago… not to mention Mickey, Adrian, Paulie, and so many other characters come into play here as we look at the injuries Rocky sustained and delivered.
