With a safari jeep and a guide, we spot all the animals of Africa. We are also there during the 'Great Migration', when thousands of animals move from Kenya to Tanzania. Which safari parks are the most beautiful? The Serengeti is certainly the most famous, but it is also Tanzania's most touristic destination. Lake Manyara is also famous, but less touristic and just as beautiful. Are you joining the adventure? Before Africa you saw us in Asia and after the tropical island of Zanzibar we crossed over to the mainland to go on safari. So we go by jeep past all the animals and the most beautiful nature. Be sure to watch until the end for a preview of the upcoming episodes: we will rent a 4x4 camper ourselves to drive through South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe. We also visit Mauritius and Reunion by plane! We make our journey through Africa during a world trip of one and a half year. We may even continue to travel indefinitely. Lake Manyara National Park is a protected area in Tanzania's Arusha and Manyara Regions, situated between Lake Manyara and the Great Rift Valley. It covers an area of 325 km2 (125 sq mi) including about 230 km2 (89 sq mi) lake surface. Here is footage from a 1-day Safari including wild animals like elephants and buffalos. 🤍
▶FULL DOCUMENTARIES | 🤍 ▶ Spanish video: 🤍 Following the formation of the Rift Valley two or three million years ago, currents of water began to descent along the walls of the gigantic escarpment to form a lake. Although its greatest extension took place some 250,000 years ago, the lake still exists today and, under the protection of the Rift from which it received water, has generated a mosaic of diverse habitats offering refuge to wildlife. Between the escarpment and the salty waters of Lake Manyara there are thick rain forests, acacia forests, savannahs and wetlands with their own particular flora and fauna. There are few places in Africa where one can find in scarcely 300 square kilometres the variety of ecosystems found in the Lake Manyara area, one of the most beautiful national parks in Tanzania. The lake, measuring 390 square kilometres, occupies 230 of the national park’s 330 square kilometres. The Manyara area has a very unstable level of rainfall, which varies between 250 and 1,200 mm. per year, which causes years of intense draught followed by heavy flooding. With these fluctuations it would be impossible to develop the jungle and rain forest bordering the lake, but Manyara receives the waters which spring forth from the base of the ridge and are filtered through the 600 metres of uneven land from the highlands of Ngorongoro. The rain forest is populated by a very high number of animal species, although the number of individual specimens of each species is lower than that found in open areas. Camouflaged amidst the dense vegetation, the Manyara forest houses an authentic collection of Tanzanian snakes. Many of them are inoffensive to man but some, although timid and evasive, have a mortal bite. The green mamba is one of the most venomous snakes on the entire African continent. Although not as powerful as that of the black mamba, the venom of this mamba acts quickly. Just before reaching the lake, the Simba River forms a natural pool where a group of hippopotami live permanently. The place, known as the hippo-pool, shelters the great animals during the hottest hours of the day. Despite their size and strength, the hippopotami’s skin is very sensitive to the sun’s rays and so they protect themselves by spending the day submerged in water. The name Manyara comes from an indigenous word. The Masai use the word manyara to refer to an euphorbia with which they raise palisades to protect their livestock. It is a harder and more resistant plant than any other hawthorn they use in their bomas and protects the livestock contained inside better than any other. In the same way, the Manyara National Park protects a mosaic of ecosystems which represent the biological variability of Tanzania and give shelter to the animal species living there. Today, this former hunting preserve has become an inviolable refuge for the animal species which, not long ago, attracted hunters from all over the world.

This beautiful park, located on the road from Arusha to Ngorongoro, is nestled between the Great Rift Valley and a lush lake, and is frequently visited by visitors on their way to the Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park. It is recognised for its tree-climbing lions, habituated baboons, and substantial elephant populations, despite having a lower concentration of species than some of Tanzania's other parks. The park is compact, with a total size of only 330 square kilometres, although the lake itself occupies a significant amount of the land mass. The views from the top of the escarpment, which stretch for miles out towards the lake, are surely breathtaking, and if you're visiting the park on your way to somewhere else, it's a terrific location to start and sets a nice tone for the remainder of your journey.
The 3rd day of my budget safari on the Tanzanian Northern Circuit took me to Lake Manyara National Park. We were definitely rewarded with the opportunity to watch a group of four lions interact with their environment - hang out on the tree branches, chase warthogs and contemplate attacking some buffalos. The shallow Lake Manyara is an alkaline lake found in this park. Not far from the entrance we saw a troop of baboons. While busily watching their antics an elephant came out of bush and went to charge us! Late that day we were excited to see a lioness sleeping up a tree. During a visit at Lake Manyara National Park make sure you also experience the Treetop Walkway. It costs around 50 US Dollars/person and really adds a nice value to your Safari through Tanzania. When we went there last, we were joined by a couple of friends and we all loved it! It's an amazing experience which takes about half an hour! You walk over a series of suspension bridges with thick netting on the sides, reaching heights of 18 meters above the Lake Manyara National Park. Each of the bridges end on a platform situated around tree trunks. From the bridges and the platforms you can enjoy views and maybe even spot animals. ENJOY!!! Lake Manyara National Park was established in 1960. It is set in the Great Rift Valley and covers an area of 325 sq. kms of which 229 sq. kms are the lake. Open grasslands with rocky outcrops, forests and swamps as well as the lake itself form the park features. The major attraction to the Park are the famous tree-climbing lions including other wild animals such as the elephants, hippo, plain animals as well as a huge variety of bird life, both resident and migratory.
